The James Cary Smith Community Grant Program supports community‐based organizations that build local capacity for environmental justice work.
The 2022‐2025 grant cycle, also known as Cycle 1, funded 33 organizations ‐ explore several transformational projects(1 Mb PDF, 17 pgs, posted 11/6/2024) and their impacts.
During Cycle 1, the Air District partnered with a local firm, RDA Consulting, to conduct a comprehensive program evaluation. The Air District is particularly interested in understanding how the grant program supports communities of color and communities disproportionately burdened by air pollution, or environmental justice (EJ) communities. Evaluation findings to date are in the documents below.
