The Community Advisory Council Charter is the governing document for the CAC. The Governance Ad Hoc Committee of the Community Advisory Council developed the Charter and it was approved by the Board of Directors on July 05, 2023. The Charter consists of:

The Air District recognizes the importance of supporting community involvement in Air District initiatives and providing financial support to increase equitable representation in agency programs and activities. This compensation policy describes how members of the Community Advisory Council will get compensated by the Air District for their time related to meetings, and activities of the Community Advisory Council or the Air District.

The Community Advisory Council developed nine environmental justice priorities which are intended to direct the Air District in advancing and addressing environmental justice within all aspects of its operations. They identify the conditions needed for the Air District to be an effective partner with frontline communities who are most affected by pollution, and to improve air quality and overall environmental justice outcomes.

A Call to Action is a community-centered document that lays out the desired outcomes of the nine CAC EJ Priorities and specifies the Air District’s plan to respond to each EJ Priority with concrete environmental justice strategies and actions, most of which are also embedded in the Air District’s 2024-2029 Strategic Plan(60 Mb PDF, 116 pgs, revised 11/22/2024). Detailed and measurable plans for implementing these EJ actions are being developed by the Air District to guide the prioritization of the Strategic Plan’s implementation and to respond to the needs of EJ communities.
