Stakeholders and Organizations
These stakeholders and organizations developed other program initiatives to support PEV adoption in the Bay Area.
- Bay Area EV Coordinating Council: A forum to discuss PEV-related emerging trends and to share information about their experience in implementing best practices that support accelerated EV adoption within their community.
- Department of Energy Clean Cities: Strives to advance the nation’s economic, environmental, and energy security by supporting local decisions to adopt practices that contribute to the reduction of petroleum consumption. In the Bay Area, there are three Clean Cities chapters:
- Department of Energy: Alternative Fuels & Advanced Vehicles Data Center: Provides a wide range of information and resources to enable the use of alternative fuels (as defined by the Energy Policy Act of 1992), in addition to other petroleum reduction options such as advanced vehicles, fuel blends, idle reduction, and fuel economy.
- Plug-In America: A coalition of RAV4-EV drivers, former lessees of Honda EV+, GM EV1, Ford Ranger and Ford Th!nk City electric cars, and advocates of energy independence and clean air.
- Golden Gate Electric Vehicle Association (formerly SFEVA): A Bay Area non-profit educational, support and advocacy group for the promotion of electric vehicles.
- Project Get Ready: A non-profit initiative led by Rocky Mountain Institute, in conjunction with a wide array of partners and technical advisers.
- California Energy Commission: The Energy Commission's Alternative and Renewable Fuel and Vehicle Technology Program’s (ARFVTP) investments strategically target gaps in the energy innovation pipeline for the development and deployment of alternative and renewable fuels and advanced transportation technologies to help meet the state's goals for reducing greenhouse gas emissions and petroleum dependence in the transportation sector.
Other Funding Programs
The California Air Resources Board has developed a comprehensive listing of funding and incentives that are available to PEV drivers. These listings include links to federal tax credits and California’s Clean Vehicle Rebate Project to help reduce the cost of buying PEVs, links to the California Clean Air Vehicle Decals - High Occupancy Vehicle Lane Usage that allows qualifying single-occupant PEV drivers free use of the carpool or High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) lanes, information about incentives offered by utilities to reduce the cost of charging at home during off-peak hours, and more.

- California Hybrid and Zero-Emission Truck and Bus Voucher Incentive Project (HVIP): A program to help speed the introduction of clean, low-carbon hybrid and electric trucks and buses by providing vouchers to help offset about half of the incremental cost for qualified vehicles.
