Notice to Comply

Learn about the Air District’s Notice to Comply and what to do if you receive one.

A Notice to ComplyLanguage Icon Globe is a formal notice of minor violations to Air District regulations. These violations are typically administrative or have a small impact on air quality. If the problems are corrected by the due date on the citation, then penalty fees will not be charged. If the problems are not corrected by the due date, a Notice of Violation may be issued.

If You Receive a Notice to Comply

Take immediate action to fix all problems listed on the Notice to Comply. Once the problems have been corrected, you must notify the Compliance and Enforcement group. Have the following information ready when you call:

  • Notice to Comply serial number
  • Problems cited
  • Corrective actions and the dates they were made
  • If all of the problems have been corrected by the due date, the Air District will consider the matter closed.

Resolution

In some cases, an Air District inspector may contact you to verify your corrective actions. If you have corrected all of the problems cited on the Notice to Comply and notified the Air District, you do not need to do anything else.

If You Need Help

If you have questions about what you were cited for or how to correct the problems cited, call the inspector listed at the bottom of the Notice to Comply or the Compliance Assistance Hotline. Your local trade association or environmental consultants may also offer assistance on how to fix problems identified in a Notice to Comply.
