Smoke from wildfires in the western U.S. and Canada is expected to impact air quality in the Bay Area on Thursday and Friday. Residents in affected areas should stay alert to news coverage and health warnings related to smoke. Check air quality at fire.airnow.gov and take steps to protect your health from smoke. Learn how at www.baaqmd.gov/wildfiresafety. Pollution levels are not expected to exceed the national 24-hour health standard. A Spare the Air Alert is not in effect.

Air District funding is available to help upgrade or replace mobile, stationary, and portable off-road equipment.
Before applying, review our Apply for Funding web page to see which project categories are open. Complete applications will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis until all funds have been awarded. The application due date has been extended until 5:00 PM on April 11, 2024. Only complete applications will be evaluated.
Eligible equipment types include, but are not limited to, off-road loaders, excavators, dozers, transport refrigeration units, generators, portable and stationary engines, and forklifts with a lift capacity of less than or equal to 8,000 pounds.
Applicants seeking funding for forklifts with a lift capacity of at least 8,001 pounds, port cargo handling equipment (CHE), and airport ground support equipment (GSE) must apply for funding through the VW Environmental Mitigation Trust. This program closed on February 28, 2024.
