On September 17, 1997, The California Office of Administrative Law approved the Regulation to Establish a Statewide Portable Equipment Registration Program. The California Air Resources Board (ARB) accepts applications for registration of equipment under this program.

Any owner or operator of dry cleaning equipment that is exempt from Regulation 2, Rule 1, Sections 301 and 302 (obtaining an Authority to Construct/Permit to Operate) must register each dry cleaning machine (see Regulation 8, Rule 17, Section 404 and Regulation 2, Rule 1, Section 120).

An owner or operator of a small graphic arts operation must register that operation with the Air District per Regulation 8, Rule 20, Section 408.

An owner or operator of a mobile refinishing operation must register the operation with the District per Regulation 8, Rule 45, Section 402.

Owners or operators of stationary compression ignition (diesel) engines used in agricultural operations within the Air District's jurisdiction are subject to Regulation 11, Rule 17 and must register their agricultural equipment with the Air District per Section 11-17-401.

An owner or operator of certain commercial cooking operations must register their charbroiler with the Air District per Regulation 6, Rule 2, Sections 401 and 402.

Effective January 1, 2011, Regulation 9, Rule 7 requires certain boilers, steam generators and process heaters to be registered with the District and comply with the emission limits set forth in the rule.

The Air District has opened registration for businesses from across the region to compete in the Great Race for Clean Air, a friendly competition that encourages employees to carpool, vanpool, walk, bike or ride transit to work, instead of driving alone.

Middle- and high-school students from across the region are invited to attend the third annual Youth for the Environment and Sustainability, or YES, Conference on Saturday, January 30, 2016, in Berkeley. The registration deadline for youth presenters is Thursday, December 15, 2015.

As employees throughout the Bay Area make plans to return to the workplace, the Air District and the Metropolitan Transportation Commission encourage businesses to review their Commuter Benefits Program registration and update it with new commute options. In the Bay Area, companies with 50 or more full-time employees are required to register for, provide, and promote commuter benefits to their workforce.
