The Bay Area Air District is announcing its new name and logo. The new look symbolizes the Air District’s new direction through recent leadership changes, reflecting a modernized brand that helps the agency stay connected and effective in its mission.

The Air District is inviting Bay Area residents to provide input on two new draft regulations. Regulation 11, Rule 18 would reduce health risk to local residents from toxic air contaminants emitted by facilities in the Bay Area, and Regulation 12, Rule 16 sets limits on facility-wide petroleum refining emissions.

The Air District's Board of Directors has adopted two new regulations to further tighten air pollution controls on petroleum operations at Bay Area refineries. Regulation 9, Rule 14 reduces sulfur dioxide emissions from the largest Bay Area source, coke calcining. Regulation 12, Rule 15 is a first-of-its-kind requirement that will better enable the Air District to track refinery emissions as changes are made at the facilities.

The Air District is launching a new subscription service that will provide Bay Area residents with timely information about significant events affecting regional and local air quality.

The Air District's Board of Directors approved funding today for 92 new plug-in electric vehicle charging stations throughout the nine-county region. The project will provide grants for the installation of new, publicly available EV charging stations along major transportation corridors, at workplaces, and at key locations.

Open houses will be held in Martinez on Sept, 15, Benicia on Sept. 17, and Richmond on Sept. 28. The public comment period for the rules and amendments closes on Friday, Oct. 2, 2015.

The Air District is announcing the availability of $35 million in Volkswagen Environmental Mitigation Trust funding statewide.

The Air District Board today confirmed the appointment of Dr. Philip Fine, an internationally recognized expert in air quality science and policy, as the new executive officer, effective February 21.

To accelerate the development of publicly accessible hydrogen re-fueling stations, the Bay Area Air Quality Management District has approved $2.2 million in funding for the completion of 12 new hydrogen fueling stations in the Bay Area.

This open house will be held at Lincoln Elementary School in Richmond starting at 6pm. The public comment period for these rules and amendments closes on Friday, Oct. 2.
