Smoke from wildfires in the western U.S. and Canada is expected to impact air quality in the Bay Area on Thursday and Friday. Residents in affected areas should stay alert to news coverage and health warnings related to smoke. Check air quality at fire.airnow.gov and take steps to protect your health from smoke. Learn how at www.baaqmd.gov/wildfiresafety. Pollution levels are not expected to exceed the national 24-hour health standard. A Spare the Air Alert is not in effect.

Learn about the state refinery task force’s commitment to the health and safety of refinery workers and local communities, and its latest activities.
California Environmental Protection Agency formed this task force to reach the highest possible level of safety for refinery workers and local communities, and to prepare for and effectively respond to emergencies if they occur. Members include 10 state agencies, U.S. EPA , and local agencies from areas of California that contain refineries.

The California Interagency Refinery Task Force hosts a series of forums to offer facts, insights, and opportunity for discussion about refineries and the movement of oil in the Bay Area. Translators will be available in Spanish and Chinese. No meetings are currently scheduled.
