The Air District, in partnership with the Communities for a Better Environment and the East Oakland community, will convene a community steering committee kick-off meeting on Thursday, September 15, at 6 PM.
The community steering committee will meet monthly to develop a Community Emissions Reduction Plan as part of the Assembly Bill 617 program. The community-led CERP will outline a strategic plan to improve air quality and public health throughout impacted communities of East Oakland.

After successful advocacy by residents, East Oakland has been identified by the Air District and California Air Resources Board as a priority community to create a CERP guided by a newly formed steering committee. The Air District partnered with Communities for a Better Environment to reach out to East Oakland residents, organizations and stakeholders to form the community steering committee.
This community-led process builds upon decades of work to address areas of concentrated air pollution, environmental racism and the cumulative impacts of poor air quality. Additionally, the CERP will employ innovative solutions that will lead to measurable improvements in air quality, community health and overall quality of life in East Oakland.
