The Air District is announcing that the sixth annual California Clean Air Day will take place on October 4. The event is a statewide day of action where millions of Californians participate in cleaning the air.

Spare the Air Status

Bay Area residents, community groups, businesses, and local government agencies are invited to participate by visiting www.cleanairday.org and taking the Clean Air Day pledge, which signifies a commitment to take actions that lead to cleaner air in their communities.

Hosted by the Coalition for Clean Air, Clean Air Day is an accessible opportunity that allows for virtual and in-person participation. Grants of up to $1,000 are now available through a microgrant program to support community groups, agencies and nonprofits organizing Clean Air Day community events. Applications are due on August 17 by 5 PM on the California Clean Air Day website.

Individual actions, when taken as a whole, can make a big impact. In 2022, nearly 2 million people and over 650 organizations pledged to do their part to improve air quality. This year, Clean Air Day will place a special focus on engaging and supporting youth in cleaning the air with education programs in schools and student-led efforts to raise awareness of air pollution issues.
