The Air District has three major projects that provide home air filtration units to individuals most vulnerable to wildfire smoke and air pollution.
The Air District is partnering with Bay Area members of the California Asthma Mitigation Project (AMP) to provide portable air filtration units to low-income clients (Medi-Cal recipients) diagnosed with poorly controlled asthma. Through this partnership, the Air District is able to reach the most vulnerable populations to ensure they receive air filtration units, education and guidance about how to optimally place, use, and maintain the units through this and future wildfire seasons. Regional Asthma Management and Prevention (RAMP), a project of the Public Health Institute, is providing coordination support, educational materials and a case study of the pilot partnership.

The Air District is also working with Local Health Centers to provide air filtration units to low-income residents who are suffering from asthma or other severe respiratory conditions.
The Air District is partnering with our James Cary Smith Community Grantees who are working on capacity-building projects focused on air pollution issues in impacted communities throughout the Bay Area.
