The Smoking Vehicle Program is a voluntary citizen participation program. No enforcement action is taken as a result of citizen complaints against smoking vehicles. The Vehicle Trip Reduction Grant Program provides funding to support projects that improve air quality and reduce greenhouse gas emissions by reducing vehicle trips and miles traveled in the Bay Area.

The Air District has expanded the eligible model year for participating in the Vehicle Buy Back Program to 1996 vehicles and older. Previously only 1994 and older vehicles were accepted. 

The Air District is offering $6 million in grant funding to public agencies to support projects that improve air quality and reduce greenhouse gas emissions by reducing vehicle trips and miles traveled in the Bay Area.

The Air District is announcing the availability of $5 million through the Charge! program, which provides grant funding to offset the cost to purchase and install new chargers for light-duty electric vehicles.

The Air District is implementing a $14 million grant program to promote electric vehicle adoption in the Bay Area. This funding is available to both public and private entities to encourage turnover of their fleets to electric vehicles.

The Air District's Board of Directors approved funding today for 92 new plug-in electric vehicle charging stations throughout the nine-county region. The project will provide grants for the installation of new, publicly available EV charging stations along major transportation corridors, at workplaces, and at key locations.

The Air District has awarded a loan guarantee to EvGateway, an electric vehicle solutions management company focused on accelerating the adoption and use of electric vehicles by making them easier to use.

Today, the South Coast Air Quality Management District filed a petition challenging the U.S. EPA and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s rollbacks to the Safer Affordable Fuel-Efficient Vehicles Rule initiated by the Trump Administration. The Bay Area Air Quality Management District and the Sacramento Metropolitan Air Quality Management District have joined South Coast AQMD as co-petitioners.

The Air District is announcing incentives of $1,200 through the Vehicle Buy Back Program for Bay Area residents to scrap 1997 and older vehicles to improve local air quality.

The Air District, in cooperation with the City of South San Francisco, is hosting the Clean Cars for All electric vehicle showcase on Saturday, August 17, from 10:00 AM – 2 PM, in South San Francisco.
