These resources can assist practitioners in evaluating air quality and climate impacts during the environmental review process pursuant to CEQA. The tools, data, methodologies, and guidance provided do not represent an exhaustive list and should be used in conjunction with other resources.

Learn about the Wildfire Air Quality Response Program, which was developed by the Air District to help mitigate the effect of wildfires on air quality in the Bay Area.

The Air District is extending an air quality advisory for wildfire smoke from the Sites Fires, located in western Colusa County, through Wednesday, June 19. 

The Bay Area Air Quality Management District is extending an air quality advisory for wildfire smoke from the Sites Fire, located in western Colusa County, through Thursday, June 20. 

The Air District is extending an air quality advisory for wildfire smoke through tomorrow, Sunday, September 11. Smoke from wildfires in California, Oregon and Washington are expected to continue to impact the Bay Area tomorrow. Isolated pockets of elevated air pollution levels are possible; however, pollution levels are not expected to exceed the national 24-hour standard. A Spare the Air Alert is not in effect and air quality is not expected to be unhealthy. Smoky, hazy skies may be visible and the smell of smoke may be present.

The Air District is extending an air quality advisory for wildfire smoke through tomorrow, Saturday, September 10. Smoke from wildfires in California and Oregon is expected to continue to impact the Bay Area through Saturday, but pollutant levels are not expected to exceed the national 24-hour health standard. A Spare the Air Alert is not in effect. Smoky, hazy skies may be visible and the smell of smoke may be present. 

The Air District is issuing an air quality advisory for wildfire smoke for tomorrow, Friday, September 9. Smoke from wildfires in California and Oregon is expected to impact the Bay Area through Friday, but pollutant levels are not expected to exceed the national 24-hour health standard. A Spare the Air Alert is not in effect on Friday. Smoky, hazy skies may be visible and the smell of smoke may be present. 

The Air District is extending an air quality advisory for wildfire smoke through Monday, August 29. Smoke from the Rum Creek Fire in southwest Oregon and the Six Rivers Lightning Complex Fire in northwest California is expected to impact the Bay Area through Monday. Elevated air pollution levels are likely. However, pollution levels are not expected to exceed the national 24-hour standard, and a Spare the Air Alert is not in effect. Smoky, hazy skies will be visible and the smell of smoke is expected to be present within the Bay Area.

The Air District is issuing an air quality advisory for wildfire smoke for tomorrow, Tuesday, August 23. Smoke from the Six Rivers Lightning Complex Fire in Humboldt and Trinity counties is expected to impact the Bay Area tomorrow. Isolated pockets of elevated air pollution levels are possible; however, pollution levels are not expected to exceed the national 24-hour standard. A Spare the Air Alert is not in effect and air quality is not expected to be unhealthy. Smoky, hazy skies may be visible and the smell of smoke may be present tomorrow. 

The Air District is issuing an air quality advisory for wildfire smoke for tomorrow, Sunday, August 28. Smoke from the Rum Creek Fire in southwest Oregon is expected to impact the Bay Area tomorrow. Isolated pockets of elevated air pollution levels are possible; however, pollution levels are not expected to exceed the national 24-hour standard. Smoke from the Flat Fire in southwestern Oregon continues to be transported into the Bay Area today and into the early evening. Smoky, hazy skies may be visible across the Bay Area and the smell of smoke is possible at higher elevations, especially in the East Bay, North Bay and Santa Clara Valley regions. Pollutant levels are not expected to exceed the national 24-hour health standard. A Spare the Air Alert is not in effect.

The Air District is issuing an air quality advisory for wildfire smoke for tomorrow, Wednesday, August 17. Smoke from the Six Rivers Lightning Complex Fire in Humboldt and Trinity counties is expected to continue to impact the Bay Area tomorrow. Isolated pockets of elevated air pollution levels are possible; however, pollution levels are not expected to exceed the national 24-hour standard. Smoky, hazy skies may be visible and the smell of smoke is possible. Pollutant levels are NOT expected to exceed the national 24-hour health standard and there is no Spare the Air Alert in effect.

The Air District is extending an air quality advisory for wildfire smoke through Monday, August 28. Smoke from numerous fires in Northern California and Oregon is expected to impact air quality throughout the Bay Area, causing air quality to reach low-moderate on the U.S. EPA’s Air Quality Index. Smoky, hazy skies may be visible and the smell of smoke is possible. Pollutant levels are NOT expected to exceed the national 24-hour health standard and there is no Spare the Air Alert in effect.

Smoke from numerous fires in Northern and Southern California and Oregon is expected to impact air quality throughout the Bay Area on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, causing air quality to reach low-moderate on the U.S. EPA’s Air Quality Index. Smoky, hazy skies may be visible and the smell of smoke is possible. Pollutant levels are NOT expected to exceed the national 24-hour health standard and there is no Spare the Air Alert in effect.

The Air District is issuing an air quality advisory for wildfire smoke for Friday, August 25. Smoke from the Smith River Complex and other fires in Northern California is expected to impact air quality throughout the Bay Area on Friday, causing air quality to reach low-moderate on the U.S. EPA’s Air Quality Index. Smoky, hazy skies may be visible and the smell of smoke is possible. Pollutant levels are NOT expected to exceed the national 24-hour health standard and there is no Spare the Air Alert in effect.

The Air District is issuing an air quality advisory for wildfire smoke through Thursday, August 31. A Spare the Air Alert is also in effect for today, Wednesday, August 30. Smoke from numerous fires in Northern California and Oregon is expected to impact air quality throughout the Bay Area through tomorrow, causing air quality to reach high-moderate on the U.S. EPA’s Air Quality Index. Smoky, hazy skies may be visible and the smell of smoke is possible. Pollutant levels are NOT expected to exceed the national 24-hour health standard and there is no Spare the Air Alert in effect for Thursday.

The Air District is extending an air quality advisory for wildfire smoke through Tuesday, August 22. Smoke from numerous fires in Northern California and the Plant Fire in Southern California is expected to impact air quality throughout the Bay Area on Monday and Tuesday, causing air quality to reach moderate on the U.S. EPA’s Air Quality Index. Smoky, hazy skies may be visible and the smell of smoke is possible. Pollutant levels are NOT expected to exceed the national 24-hour health standard and there is no Spare the Air Alert in effect.
